The Casbah Cafe

The Casbah Cafe, Silverlake, CA. Tsunami on Sunset – the original plan – is closed. Permanently. So, sat outside with a cookie and a latte (my dad called them “leTAYs”) and a copy of the “LA Record” and my daughter’s pink, nylon string guitar. The corner of Sunset and Hyperion is noisy, polluted

Offin Myself & Autumn Leaves

@5:30pm, while dining at Carney’s hot dog emporium in Sherman Oaks, on a (relatively) chilly first day after setting the clocks back, it occurred to me that I could possibly make the Silverlake Lounge open mic. Finished dinner, dropped off the family, grabbed my daughter’s pink guitar and headed out. The usual traffic, etc. but made it in time to grab a spot. Some really great poets, story tellers, songwriters frequent this particular open mic night. Keith Niles (the host), Andy Sell,  Guy J. Jackson & David Shane Smith (super interesting songwriter) to name (more than) a few. Had a TON of fun playing to a very supportive crowd. The Silverlake Lounge open mic – Sundays – 6-8ish. Totally beats playing to the same small crowd of rustled up friends (in my humble opinion) – uh -no end to this sentence -gotta make the 7yr old breakfast.

See ya!
